Shubhashish Mukherjee began his vocal training with his father and uncle at the age of six.��
His formal training later started with Pandit Chinmoy Lahiri, and subsequently with Shyamal
Lahiri.�
In 1988 he became a disciple of Padmabhushan Pandit V. G. Jog,�
and he how continues his musical studies with Pandit Ajoy Chakrabarty.�

Pandit Ramesh Misra is one of the world's most accomplished sarangi artists.�
He is the nephew and student of Pandit Gopal Misra of the Benares Gharana,�
as well as the student of Pandit Hanuman Prasad Misra.�

A young Afghan-American, Humayun Khan has studied Hindustani classical
vocal music
with Shubha Sankaran, Ustad Vilayat Khan, Ustad Fateh Ali Khan, and Pandit
Vijay Kichlu.
He has performed as a vocalist, and has accompanied a variety of
prominent
Indian and Pakistani vocalists, in concerts in the U.S., Europe, and
Morocco,
and has appeared as vocal soloist or accompanist on a number of CD's.
Subhash Karmarkar, a disciple of Ustad Ahmed Jan Thirakwa,
is a well-known tabla performer also based in the Washington area.
He has accompanied a wide range of prominent artists, and has several CD's
to his credit.

About
the Artist
Shubhashish
started his vocal training in North Indian classical music with his father and
uncle at the early age of six. Later his formal training started with Pandit
Chinmoy Lahiri and subsequently with his son Sri Shyamal Lahiri. In 1988 he
became a disciple of India's greatest violin virtuoso, Padmabhushan Pandit V.G.
Jog. Now he continues his vocal training under Pandit Ajoy Chakrabarty, scion
and doyen of the Patiala Gharana (style of music). Shubhashish has given many
concerts in India and all over the US. In addition to, performances, he has
also given lecture demonstrations at music departments in various
universities.
During
the past few years, Shubhashish has sung with his guru at several concerts in
almost all major US cities. He is
also a visiting lecturer at The Ali Akbar College of Music in San Raphael,
California and was invited, there by Padmabibhushan Ustad Ali Akbar Khan, the
maestro himself.
He
is currently teaching in the greater Washington area.
